Metal Sculptures

The exploration of metal as a form of art and expression has been a personal journey in learning the infinite, possible layers within an act of Creation. Using discarded parts, I mix, combine, and reincarnate them into new and more complex forms. With new life, these parts are then given new purpose: to be admired, to be studied, and to inspire.

I believe that our ability to understand and work with others on a local and global stage in celebration, or at least acceptance, of each other's various beliefs is the only true path towards greater evolution as an emerging, intelligent species. Bonding together and giving new life to parts never designed for what they are being used for actively teaches me to break down the long-standing human tradition of putting limitations on placement, purpose, and class.

In such divisive times as the ones we all find ourselves in today, this same concept of bonding through knowledge of both sides, tactful skill, and celebration of differences is the sure path towards growing together into the ever more complex, beautiful, single Human Consciousness.

Love Thy Neighbor, even if their molecules may be different from yours-- which they aren't.

Using copper, brass, and other ‘non-steel’ metals has become a personal trademark, allowing me to bring my passion for creating complex 2D colour work into the arena of metal sculpture. I also use these dissimilar metals symbolically to show that sturdy bonds can be created between two items of differing elements, even elements that reject the other material on a molecular level. I believe that this practice can be converted psychologically to help remind all of us that our civilization works as a dynamic, complex organism that doesn't work very well or at all without genuine respect towards those you do not know or initially understand.
